Pietermaritzburg to host MTB WC

Bah! Who cares about the 2010 FIFA World Cup? South Africa is hosting an even bigger event next year – the first round of the 2009 Nissan UCI Mountain Bike World Cup in Pietermaritzburg.

Our very own superman, Greg Minnaar, was on hand to give his seal of approval to his hometown. And as reigning World Champion, Minnaar must be pretty chuffed that this prestigious event is going to be happening on our shores.

The Pietermaritzburg course is going to be an extremely competitive downhill track that has lots of jumps and drops. One jump too many and before you know it, you may just end up in the Zulu kingdom – send Chief Mangosuthu Buthelezi our love :)

The 2009 World Cup cycles off in Pietermaritzburg from April 3-12 in a 10 day rollercoaster of non-stop MTB action!

Come on South Africa, let’s show the world what we’re made of – and I’m not talking about vuvuzelas!

I hate these things!

I hate these things!
