Who else avoided the roads yesterday? Jeez, the taxi violence was freaking hectic! Our boss, who is normally as benevolent as Shao Kahn, even let us work from home in fear that we may just get caught shot or something. Come now South Africa; let’s sort out our problems like grown-ups and not like war fiends.
On a much happier note, it seems like everyone in the cycling community is talking about the ABSA Cape Epic, so what the hell lemme jump right on that bandwagon too! Yesterday, I read on MiWay MTB that there are a total of 138 teams in the Masters competing at the Epic. And boy, oh boy, can some of these toppies ride! They ain’t grandpas! Let’s just say that these guys are some mature, experienced riders who would probably kick my young ass on the track.
Keep your eyes on the pair from Cycle Lab Supercycling Toyota, Andrew McLean and Shan Wilson. McLean (44) was one of SA’s top road cyclists and Wilson (40) was a canoeist who finally saw the light and joined the MTB world. They are currently in second place after Stage 3, with only ABSA Masters’ Doug Brown and Bärti Bucher ahead of them.
Anyhow, I must be off. I’m going to get in my car and brave the warzone now. So, if you don’t hear from me again, just know I loved you all…Ricky, marry me? *screams like teenage girl*
