Let’s be completely honest – MTB isn’t the most popular sport in the world. It doesn’t draw the audiences or the advertising revenue like other sports such as soccer or rugby.
However, I truly believe that MTB is an elite sport. It’s not for the common man, but for the adrenaline junkies who appreciate the finer wheels in life. Nonetheless, it’s still essential that the sport receives a helping hand from society’s bigwigs once in a while. So when you see stories like the one I just read – it should bring a smile to any MTBers face
The ABSA Cape Epic has just secured a new 3 year sponsorship from ABSA Corporate and Business Bank. This means that the event will have sponsorship for the 2010 to 2012 events.
The world’s biggest and most successful MTB stage race has been saved for another few years! This is incredible news! How often have we seen events fall away due to a lack of sponsorship and funding? Our beloved Cape Epic has been rescued for the next couple of years.
I think I may just switch bank accounts to ABSA, because of their generosity (another free advertising prop on MTB Shorts – give us money now!).
