After an entire year of criticism of the local preparation for the FIFA World Cup in 2010, it’s finally great to see some good news about South Africa’s organisational skills.
The Pietermartizburg round of the 2009 Nissan UCI Mountain Bike World Cup, presented by Shimano, has been lavished some early praise well ahead of the esteemed event, which takes place over from April 10-12.
Alec Lenferna (Event Director) presented the local event at the World Cup organisers’ seminar at the International Cycling Union (UCI) offices in Aigle, Switzerland, and was commended on the amount of significant work that has already been completed on race routes and competition arena.
So to all the local organisers, please take a bow, you’ve made us proud. I always knew it would take some fellow MTBers to show the world that South Africa is not so bad after all
